2022-Dec-072023 Indoor Season

We are looking to get moving on a GKSSA indoor season, as the dome has some time slots available Sunday night, and some Monday night, if needed. Of course, it will all depend on having enough teams registered.

After reading some details below, if you are interested in entering a team, you'll need to contact the GKSSA Secretary and send the GKSSA treasurer a $1000 deposit by December 16. Please indicate if your preference is A, B, or Masters (35+ for all team members).

Some details:

• the season will begin January 8
• the season will likely run between 12 and 16 games
• there will not be a game on the Sunday at the beginning of March break
• the final costs will likely be between $2200 and $2800 with the fluctuation because of potential games played and dome discounts (the dome offers a heavy discount if all 4 fields are rented together)
• the goal is to run an A division and a B division on Sunday nights, and Masters on Monday night, if enough teams register
• A/B may have to be combined if not enough teams register
• with possible limited timeslots, there may not be space for the 5th, 9th, or 13th teams - register ASAP
• Masters may have to play Sunday nights

At the 2022 GKSSA AGM on November 30, Ryan Housh officially stepped down from the VP role that he was holding. Billy Camperlino of Xtirpation FC stepped into the rol e. In the other positions (President, Secretary, and Member-at-Large), the incumbents remained in place.

2022-Oct-27GKSSA AGM

The 2022 GKSSA AGM will be held Wednesday, November 30 at the Invista Centre at 7p in Room A/B.

Positions up for election for two-year terms are President (currently Adrian B.), Secretary (Derek S.), and one Member-at-Large (Maureen S.). The role of Vice-President (was Ryan H.) will also be up for election for a one-year term.

If you are interested in joining the board, please contact the GKSSA Secretary for further information.

If any members wish to submit any amendments to the by-laws, they must be submitted to the GKSSA Secretary by the end of the day of Monday, October 31.

2022-Aug-17Playoff schedule

The GKSSA playoff schedule for 2022 is finally available. Apologies on the delay with publishing it, but field allocations had to be fully confirmed first. There may be a couple of field changes, but not game night changes. The fields for the finals at BHS are yet to be finalized and will depend on weather and field recovery over the next few weeks.

Playoff matches, if tied, go straight to kicks from the penalty mark, except for the finals which will have two ten-minute periods of extra time.

The GKSSA registration deadline for 2022 is August 3 at 4pm ET. No registrations, transfers, or roster removals will be allowed after this time.

2022-May-30Cup Rules

The Nathalie Cave and Carmine Lanzo Sr Cups begin tonight. These games require a winner, so if the match is tied at the end of regulation, all games up to and including the semi-finals will go directly to kicks from the penalty mark.

Call-ups are not permitted for cup matches, but trial players are. If you plan to use a trial player, please contact Alex in advance of your match.

2022-May-222022 season available!

The 2022 season is now open on the website. Please note that not all sponsors or uniform colours have been updated as yet, but the first week of the schedule is now available. The rest of the schedule should be available in the next 24h. Please verify your team contact information, and if incorrect, contact Alex ASAP. If you have not shared a second team contact, please let Alex know, including mobile numbers in case of late game cancellations due to weather.

2022-May-20BHS notes

A few important BHS notes to be aware of:

1. Remember that the last person to leave the Barr Homes Soccerplex is responsible for locking the gate.
2. Please park in the usual designated parking lots. The first row of the lot past the pond towards Field 2 is for referees and those who are either pregnant or handicapped only.
3. Only PLASTIC recycling should go into the recycling bins. Empty your bottles before placing them in the bins. Also, please pick up your used tape and any other garbage and dispose of it in the garbage cans that are readily available at each field, and not in the recycling bins.

2022-Mar-05Upcoming SGM

With spring quickly approaching we have set a date for the spring General Meeting, which is planned to be held in person on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the Invista Centre at 7pm in Hall C. Current health protocols in place at the time of the meeting will be followed.

With no season in 2020, and a shortened season in 2021, we are looking to return to regular form for the 2022 outdoor season. The goal is to put all teams into their ideal and suitable division.

An exact budget for team fees has not yet been set, but it can be expected to be in the $4500 range. With plenty of notice now being given, a deposit of $2000 will be necessary by May 4 to hold a spot in the league, with the remainder due before the first game of the season. Divisional alignment will be created May 4, and late deposits/registrations may not be accepted depending on the submissions the night of the General Meeting.

Two amendments to the GKSSA have been submitted to be voted on at the meeting.

Amendment 1

Change Article 5 ("Board of Directors") from:

• The Club shall be governed by a Board of Directors that shall consist of at least six (6) individuals and up to ten (10), as may be amended from time to time in accordance with these By-Laws. These individuals shall hold the positions of: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Registrar, Director of Discipline. There shall be up to four (4) Directors-At-Large

• After an initial Board of Directors has been appointed, the positions of President, Secretary, Registrar, and two (2) Directors-At-Large shall be elected in even numbered years while the positions of Vice-President, Treasurer, Director of Discipline, and the remaining two (2) Directors-At-Large shall be elected in odd numbered years.

to:

2021-Oct-18Tentative AGM Date

The GKSSA's 2020 and 2021 AGMs are expected to be held jointly on Monday, November 22 via Zoom.
