Playoff Games

With the regular season winding up, the playoffs begin in just a few days. All matches require a winner, and as such, the rules are as follows:

All of these games require a winner. If the game is drawn (tied) at the end of regulation, the teams will proceed directly to kicks from the mark to determine a winner. This will be done as per FIFA rules (as per usual), with only those on the field at the end of the match being eligible to participate. This will apply to all games up to, and including, the semi-final matches.

The finals, if tied at the end of regulation, will have two ten (10) minute periods of extra time. This is not golden goal (aka "sudden death"), but both entire periods of extra time must be played. If still tied at the end of extra time, the finals will then continue to kicks from the mark.

CaraCo Home Field maintenance

The City of Kingston informed us today that the CaraCo Home Field (at the Invista Centre) is undergoing some maintenance to the surrounding track from June 25 through July 13.

This affects three games in the B Division: B22, B25, and B29, all of which have moved over to Woodbine 4. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Cup Game Tie-breakers

As the cup games begin this week, the rules are as follows:

Clippers Adult Regional games this weekend

This Sunday, June 3, the Kingston Clippers Women's and Men's OCSL Premier teams will be playing at Richardson Stadium in two games being televised on YourTV (aka Cogeco). The women play at 1pm against Ottawa Internationals SC Fury, and the men kick off at 3pm against Capital United. Admission is free.

Congratulations to Philip Benevides

Philip Benevides is a past player and Vice-President of the GKSSA, and he is being honoured with an Ontario Soccer Centre Circle Award for Match Official - High Performance. For more details, please visit the SOSA website.

Changes to B/C/D schedules

Due to an unfortunate circumstance beyond our control, the D division schedule has changed fairly significantly. The schedule has been fully updated online now.

This will also result in some minor changes for the C division, with late games at Willie Pratt and WJ Henderson moving to Woodbine 4.

There has also been a change to the B division schedule for the weeks of July 17 and July 24, plus the CFB - Hospital field is no longer being used.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank everyone for their patience and understanding.

Upcoming referee course

There is an entry level referee course being held at the Boys and Girls Club of Kingston (Frontenac Mall) on June 2nd and 3rd.

If anyone is interested in registering, the deadline is end of day May 27th, and you can do so by visiting RefCentre, "Search by District" and select "SOSA".

Schedule online

The outdoor 2018 schedule is now online. Teams are (mostly) populated with team contacts, uniforms, and sponsors. If anything about your team is incorrect, please contact ASAP.

The cup schedule is also a little different this year. The full cup schedule gives the overall picture. Short summary: C and D division teams begin in the Nathalie Cave Memorial Cup at the beginning of June. Winners go onto the second round, where B division teams are introduced. Winners from that second round move into the Carmine Lanzo, Sr Cup, where the A division teams are introduced, while the losers continue in the Nathalie Cave Memorial Cup. This will all culminate in the cup finals on August 10.

Competitive tryouts

The Kingston Clippers Soccer Club will be having competitive tryouts for men and women's teams playing in the OCSL this summer.

Women's tryouts take place at Tindall Field (on Queen's University main campus) Tuesday April 3rd at 6:30pm.

Men's tryouts take place at Richardson Stadium (on Queen's University west campus) Sunday April 8th at 4:30pm.

Spring meeting – April 26

The GKSSA spring meeting will take place on Thursday, April 26th at the Invista Centre in Hall C from 7-8:30pm. Attendance is mandatory for teams reps.

Outdoor deposit

The $500 deposit night for returning teams is set for March 22nd from 6:30-7:30 at the Gardiners Road Boston Piza. Teams returning for the 2018 outdoor season must make arrangements to drop off their deposit on or before the 22nd or face the possibility of losing their spot in the GKSSA.
