2011-Nov-28Annual General Meeting
Our 2011 AGM will be held on Wednesday, November 20th at the Portuguese Hall on Division Street at 7:00 pm.

2011-Sep-08Seeking Corporate Donors
The GKSSA is in need of corporate donors to help with the Barr Homes Soccerplex. This is a project that is going to benefit the entire Kingston soccer community and the GKSSA will recognize our donors with signage at the site. In order to help encourage the membership to secure donations, the GKSSA will now offer commissions to anyone who can secure donations for the project.
If you are able to help out, contact Rob McDonald. We have a sponsorship letter already drawn up to help you out.
2011-Sep-05Field Development Continues: Work Opportunity
If you are interested in making some extra cash over September and October and want to help develop the Kingston Area’s premier soccer facility, then the GKSSA has an opportunity for you. Contact Rob McDonald if you are interested.

May 31, 2011 ❧ Jimmy Lauder
With great sadness and respect we note the passing of Jimmy Lauder, who passed away in Kingston on May-29 at 81 years of age.
Jimmy was inducted into the Kingston Sports Hall of Fame in 2007 in recognition for his contributions to soccer in Kingston, as a player, referee, coach, and organizer. Many of us remember him fondly as a long-time referee, and he was doing that before there was a GKSSA.
There will be a Memorial Gathering for James (Jim) Houston Lauder on Wednesday, June 1 at the Township Chapel of Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, 435 Davis Drive between the hours of 2-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bayridge Secondary School Athletics – Girls Soccer Team are gratefully accepted.
2011-May-28Cup Tournaments Cancelled
Due to the extremely wet spring and severe field shortages our two cup tournaments have been cancelled for this year.
2011-May-29Wet Sports Field Problems Continue
As mentioned on the City of Kingston’s Sports Field page, city fields were closed on Friday, May-27 until further notice. With luck, some of the city’s fields may re-open on Monday. As of Sunday, May-29, the status of GKSSA games for the week of May-30 is uncertain.
We will do our best to keep our game information up-to-date, but teams should be prepared for late notice of game cancellation. Also, remember that the final decision about field safety will sometimes be made at the pitch at kick-off time by the teams and the referee.
2011-May-242011 Schedule, v2.0
The revised 2011 schedule is now on-line.
At the moment, only the first round games of the cup tournament are on-line. The Nathalie Cave Memorial Cup games start on Jun-06, Carmine Lanzo Sr Cup games on Jun-07. Recall that due to the severe shortage of fields, the previously scheduled round-robin style cup format has been discarded in favour of a single elimination tournament.
2011-May-16Game Cancellations
All GKSSA games from Monday, May 16 through Friday, May 20 have been postponed due to unsafe field conditions. They will be rescheduled.
2011-May-15Wet Weather and Field Cancellations
Sunday, May-15 – As you know, it’s raining again. A lot. Since this is making our spring even wetter than usual, there is an increased chance of our soccer games being cancelled due to unsafe field conditions. With this in mind, team managers should make a point of checking their email throughout the afternoon of your game.
If we know in advance that a field is unsafe, league scheduler Terry will notify the teams involved by email. Unless you hear otherwise, you should go to the field and be prepared to play. And hope for sunshine.
2011-May-10Rescheduled Novelis Games
Just as the 2011 outdoor season was about to begin, we’ve had to reschedule a bunch of games that were scheduled for Novelis due to unsafe field conditions there. This has affected more than just the games in the first week of our season.
More than a dozen games are affected. Due to limited field options, it is not possible for these games to be played on their original date, or, as in most cases, their original day of the week. For example, this is why teams that would normally play only on, say, Monday nights might find themselves with a Tuesday night game.
2011-May-092011 Outdoor Schedule is Now On-line
The full outdoor season schedule is now on-line.
Well, mostly that is. The round-robin cup games are now on-line, but not the elimination rounds. Also, the divisional playoff games are not on-line yet. (Playoffs start on Aug-24, and the playoff final games are scheduled for Sep-01.)
Cup games start in June, except for the first Nathalie Cave Memorial Cup match on May-18 in which Cataraqui IV and Cataraqui III play each other.
Team uniforms are not yet complete, and some that are shown are outdated from last year. Also, team contact information is yet to be fully entered.
2010-11 team name changes

- Cataraqui IV is a new team in the C division.
