Annual General Meeting
This year’s AGM of the GKSSA will be Wednesday, November 23 at 7:00 PM. It will be held at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour.
All teams (from both the indoor and outdoor seasons) must be represented. Please note that the April 2004 draft of the GKSSA Outdoor Rules and Regulations provides for a $50 fine to teams that are not represented at our AGM (rule 11-E).
Al Francis
It is with great sadness that we note the untimely death of Al Francis, a long-time soccer player on the Kingston scene and an active supporter of soccer in Napanee. Al died on Monday, October 17 in a workplace accident in Napanee. He was 41 years old.
Al’s enthusiasm and positive attitude will be missed by all who knew him. In the GKSSA, Al could most frequently be found playing goalkeeper, a position he excelled at with teams like Queen’s Inn and most recently Cataraqui III and Cataraqui II. However, playing soccer was less important to him than coaching it; Al devoted much of his free time to the youth soccer league in Napanee, as a coach and as a member of the league executive.
The October 19th edition of the Kingston Whig-Standard carries an article on Al and it’s available here in their on-line edition: Dedicated soccer dad killed on the job.
