2014-Aug-26Golden Goal Tie-Breaker

This year’s playoff games will use the Golden Goal flavour of extra time to settle matches that are tied after regulation. Two 10-minute periods will be played, but the first goal scored wins the game. If no goal has been scored after both periods have been played, a penalty kick shoot-out will decide the winner.

2014-Aug-11Playoff Schedule On-line

The 2014 GKSSA Playoff Schedule is now on-line and some of the initial seeding positions have been determined.

Well, so much for that! Due to the lack of field-friendly weather Kington has had this summer, many, many games have had to be rescheduled. As a result, the regular season has been been extended by a week and the playoff schedule delayed accordingly. The previously-published playoff schedule has been removed and a new one will be posted shortly.

Playoff games begin on Monday, September 1st. All four divisional final games are scheduled for Sunday, September 7th at the Barr Homes Soccerplex, starting at 11:00 AM. Good luck to all teams involved!

As happens each season, there are some new teams and some teams that change names. This is intended to be a short listing of each.

• Progress Fitness Roma is now known as AS Roma.
• Napanee FC I is now known as Napanee FC.
• Clippers is now known as Clippers-Scarpazza Design.
• LCFC III is now known as WTC Pilot House LCFC 2.
• Playtrium FC is now known as SPFC 2.
• Azores Eagles is now known as Azores Eagles SC.
• Westend Dental is a new team in the D division.
• Iron Duke FC is now known as Eastron Tap House.

2014-Mar-18Spring AGM will be April 29th

The 2014 GKSSA Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 29th at 7:00 at the Portuguese Cultural Club (on the corner of Division St and John Counter Blvd).

The $2,750 balance of your outdoor team fees are due at this time. (Remember, your initial deposit of $300 to hold your spot in the outdoor schedule is due Tuesday, April 1 at the Loyal Oarsman.)

As of right now, only one Kingston-based Entry Level course has places available, and it’s on Mar-29.

2014-Mar-1029th Annual Kingston Outdoor Sr Soccer Tournament – July 26th & July 27th

The Porto soccer team is accepting team entries for their annual tournament. If you are interested in participating, you should register right away. There are six divisions:

• Men’s Competitive
• Men’s Recreational
• Men’s Old-timers: 35 years and older (with 2 players 32–35 allowed)
• Women’s Competitive
• Women’s Recreational
• Women’s 30 years and older (with 2 players 28–30 allowed)

To register your team for the 2014 outdoor season, drop by the Loyal Oarsman on Tuesday, April 1st between 6:00 and 7:00 PM to leave a $300 non-refundable deposit.
